From the Tredegar Arms in 1963 to modern-day progress in Welsh football.
Cardiff Draconians were founded in 1963 after former GKN (Cardiff) players regrouped and entered the Cardiff Combination League, with FAW permission to carry the Draconian name already associated with Welsh amateur representative football. Early success came quickly with a divisional title, and the club then built decades of strong top-flight Combination League presence, multiple cup wins, and a culture of resilience through restructures, relegations, promotions, and major off-field development work including ground improvements and Tier 3 certification in 2020. The modern club reflects that long continuity, shaped by influential figures such as founder John Dyer and long-serving club great Alec Gray, whose commitment helped define Draconians identity across generations.
